Meta·Product Manager·Onsite - Product Sense / Strategy

Apr 2026
PM interview at Meta with a product strategy question about hardware investment. Pretty open-ended, which I wasn't fully prepared for.
  • Make the case for why Meta should invest in noise-cancelling headphones, and define what success would look like for that product.

“I spent too long on the 'why Meta' part and barely had time to get into goals.”

Meta data science interview with a SQL-style analytical question about user behavior. Pretty lean on context but the problem itself is a classic graph/aggregation type.
  • Write a query to find the number of users who made calls to three or more distinct people within the past week.

“Seemed straightforward at first but you have to be careful about counting distinct recipients, not just total calls.”

Meta PM interview with a single estimation question about ad revenue. Pretty standard case-style round, nothing too wild, but it definitely requires you to have a mental model of how Facebook's business actually works.
  • Estimate Facebook's total advertising revenue for a year.

“I went in thinking I'd just do a DAU times average CPM type breakdown and call it a day.”

Meta·Software Engineer·Onsite - System Design / Architecture

Apr 2026
System design round at Meta for a software engineer role. The question was a leaderboard design and it went well, mostly because I'd looked at this exact problem not long before the interview.
  • Design a leaderboard system for an online game.

“Came in prepared on this one, which made a big difference.”

Meta MLE interview with a classic systems question that felt deceptively straightforward until I was actually in it. The coding portion leaned heavily on data structure fundamentals, and I left feeling like I'd done okay but not great.
  • Design and implement an LRU cache supporting get and put operations, both in O(1) time. Evict the least recently used entry when capacity is exceeded.

“I knew the answer conceptually but fumbled the implementation a bit.”

Meta coding round, and they took the classic grid BFS problem and added a whole layer of keys and locked doors on top of it. Not the hardest thing in the world if you've seen it before, but I hadn't really drilled the bitmask state extension and it showed.
  • Given a grid where some cells are locked doors and others contain keys, find the shortest path from start to goal. Collecting a key permanently unlocks all doors of that color. How do you solve this efficiently?

“I started with plain BFS and the interviewer immediately asked what happens when the same cell is visited twice but with different keys collected.”

Meta·Technical Program Manager·Onsite - Behavioral / Leadership

Apr 2026
Went through a behavioral round at Meta for a TPM role. Just the one question from what was shared, but it's the kind that sounds easy until you're actually sitting there trying to pick the right story.
  • Tell me about a time you took a strategic risk.

“I had a story ready but second-guessed whether it was 'strategic' enough versus just being a normal judgment call.”

Meta coding round, one question on string manipulation with parentheses. Pretty standard algorithmic problem but the edge cases trip you up if you're not careful.
  • Given a string containing '(', ')', and lowercase letters, remove the fewest parentheses possible to make the string valid. Return any valid result.

“My first instinct was to just count unmatched parens with a stack and then do a second pass to remove them.”

Meta·Product Designer·Onsite - Product Sense / Strategy

Apr 2026
Meta product design interview, one question about building a community help app. Pretty open-ended and I wasn't totally sure how deep they wanted me to go on the product side versus the technical side.
  • Design an app that helps people help each other.

“I spent too long trying to define the problem space and the interviewer had to nudge me to actually start designing.”

Meta product sense interview, one question, real estate domain. Not a lot to go on but it's the kind of open-ended prompt that can go sideways fast if you don't pick a clear user and stick with it.
  • Design a real estate product.

“Broad enough to freeze you up if you're not careful.”
