Natoora·Data Analyst·Technical Phone Screen

Jul 2026
Had a technical screen for a Data Analyst role at Natoora where the interviewer went straight for the jugular on a resume line about an LLM pipeline I'd built. It was one of those sessions where you realize mid-answer that you maybe over-built something and now have to defend it in real time.
  • What was the actual output of the LLM summarization pipeline you built, and who was consuming it?
  • If the input data was primarily structured metrics in a CSV, why did you need an LLM at all instead of a SQL or Python template?
  • Under what conditions is an LLM-based summarization pipeline actually justified versus just being over-engineering?
  • Walk me through the full architecture of the LLM pipeline, including orchestration, prompt design, validation, failure handling, and cost considerations.

“This one tripped me up more than it should have.”

Natoora·Data Analyst·Hiring Manager Screen

Interviewed for a pricing/data analyst role at Natoora, a fresh produce company. The interviewer clearly wasn't interested in buzzword bingo and kept pushing on whether my past work was real and reproducible. A bit uncomfortable in places, mostly because I don't have direct pricing experience and they knew it.
  • You don't have direct pricing experience. How do you address that gap, and what transferable skills do you actually bring?
  • Do you have any financial analysis experience, even from coursework or personal projects?
  • How would you get up to speed on pricing-specific metrics like gross margin, markdown rate, and spoilage?
  • Most of the team runs on Google Sheets rather than SQL or Python. How comfortable are you with that, and what's the most complex spreadsheet workflow you've built?
  • What technical environment are you most comfortable working in, and why did you make those tool choices?
  • Walk me through the ETL pipeline you built to process around 25,000 CSV files. Where did the data come from, how did it move, what transformed it, and did it ever actually run in production?
  • When your background is adjacent to the job description rather than a direct match, how do you demonstrate that you can actually do the work?

“This came before I'd even settled in.”

Interviewed for a pricing analyst role at Natoora. The interviewer flagged pretty early that I didn't have direct pricing experience and that the team lives in Google Sheets, not SQL or Python, so a big chunk of the conversation was basically me making the case for why I could still do the job.
  • You don't have direct pricing experience and this team works primarily in Google Sheets. How would you convince us you can still be effective here?
  • What's the most complex spreadsheet model or workflow you've built or maintained?
  • How do you handle scale, collaboration, version control, and formula reliability when Google Sheets is the primary tool and multiple stakeholders are editing the same file?
  • When does it make sense to keep a process in Google Sheets versus migrating it to SQL, Python, or a data warehouse pipeline?

“This was basically the whole interview.”
