Behavioral round for a Data Scientist role at Transunion. Four questions, all the classic ownership-and-communication type stuff. Nothing technically wild but a couple of them made me think harder than expected.

Tell me about a time you had to learn something new quickly to finish a project.
Do you prefer working independently or as part of a team, and how do you make collaboration actually work?
Describe a time you disagreed with a teammate or stakeholder and how you resolved it.
Tell me about a meaningful mistake you made. What happened, what did you do about it, and what changed after?

Async video interview for a data science intern role at TransUnion, five prompts recorded back to back with about two minutes each. Pretty standard stuff but the ambiguity question and the non-technical communication one required more thought than I expected.

Describe a meaningful problem you solved using Python or R, including the business context, data used, methods or libraries, and measurable impact.
Walk through a situation where you used SQL, including what tables were involved, what transformations you performed, and how the output drove a decision or further analysis.
Tell me about a project where requirements were vague or poorly defined. How did you figure out what the problem actually was, set success metrics, and choose an approach?
How would you explain one of your technical projects to someone without a data or technical background, simplifying the methodology and centering the business value?
In a team project, how do you keep everyone aligned? Describe how you divide work, track progress, handle disagreements, and make sure the team actually delivers.

Describe a problem you solved using Python or R. What was the problem, why that tool, what did you actually do, and what came out of it?
Walk me through a situation where you used SQL. What data, what queries, what checks did you run, and what business question did it answer?
Tell me about a project where you had very little context or unclear requirements from the start. How did you figure out what to actually do?
How would you explain one of your technical projects to someone with no data background? Focus on the problem and the impact, not the method.
In a team project, how do you keep everyone on the same page when priorities shift or people start pulling in different directions? Give a real example.
