System design round at BitGo for a software engineer role. One massive question that basically asked you to justify every architectural decision you'd ever make at scale. Felt more like a written exam than a conversation.

For a web-scale service handling something like 20k QPS with P99 latency under 200ms and 99.99% availability, walk through the tradeoffs across monolith vs microservices, relational vs document vs wide-column databases, synchronous RPC vs event-driven messaging, REST vs gRPC, various caching strategies, strong vs eventual consistency, partitioning strategies, and load balancing approaches. For each, give a concrete scenario, justify your choice, and explain the implications for latency, availability, cost, operability, and failure modes.

Walk me through a recent high-impact project from start to finish: what was the problem, who were the stakeholders, how did you measure success, what was the architecture, what technical decisions did you make and why, what specifically did you contribute, how long did it take, and what were the results?
Describe a major challenge you ran into on that project: how did you investigate it, what was your solution, and what was the measurable impact of fixing it?
If you could go back and redo that project, what would you change and why?

BitGo software engineer interview that went deep on dynamic programming, specifically the knapsack problem in a few different forms. Pretty algorithmic and theory-heavy, which I wasn't fully expecting from a crypto infrastructure company.

Implement 0/1 Knapsack to return the maximum total value and reconstruct one optimal set of item indices. Your solution should run in O(nW) time using O(W) space, and you need to explain how to recover which items were chosen from a compressed DP state.
How would you adapt the 0/1 Knapsack solution to handle the unbounded and bounded knapsack variants, and what are the time and space complexity differences?
