Quant round for a Data Scientist role at BlackEdge, five standalone math problems, no coding, no behavioral stuff. Felt more like a math exam than an interview but some of the problems had a nice twist to them.
- How many 3-inch segments can you cut from a line that is 4.5 yards long?
- Alex buys 100 shares at $100 each. The price goes up 10% and he sells half. Then it drops 10% and he sells the rest. How much does he get for the final 50 shares?
- A cash drawer has 160 bills, all $10s and $50s, and the total is $2,760. How many of each denomination are there?
- A teacher has 4 hours to grade 45 papers. She grades the first 5 in 30 minutes. What is the average time she has left per remaining paper?
- Given that m equals the sum of squares from 1 squared to 512 squared, express the sum of squares of even numbers from 2 squared to 1024 squared in terms of m.
