Google·Product Manager·Onsite - Product Sense / Strategy

May 2026
Google PM interview with a pretty meaty technical question about ML deployment for a retail use case. Not a pure product sense round, more of a hybrid where they wanted you to think through both the modeling side and the infrastructure tradeoffs.
  • Walk through how you would train and deploy a machine learning model for license plate detection to support customer pick-up orders at a retail store. How would you decide between running it on-premise versus on the cloud?

“This one took me a second to find the right entry point.”

Google SWE interview with a classic LRU cache problem, but with a twist that includes a delete operation on top of the usual get and put. Felt pretty solid on the concept but the delete requirement caught me slightly off guard since most practice problems don't include it.
  • Design and implement an LRU cache with get, put, and delete operations, all in O(1) time complexity. Include a constructor, test cases, and make sure every access counts as a 'recently used' event.

“I knew LRU cache cold going in.”

Google SWE coding round, one problem, pretty standard prefix sum territory but I fumbled around longer than I should have.
  • Given an integer array and an integer k, determine whether the array contains a contiguous subarray of at least two elements whose sum is divisible by k.

“Took me a minute to stop thinking brute force.”

Google PM interview question about managing restaurant data on Maps. Single product sense question, no info on outcome or round specifics.
  • As the PM owning the restaurant section of Google Maps, how would you go about collecting and validating restaurant hours of operation?

“This one has more layers than it looks.”

Google·Software Engineer·Onsite - Behavioral / Leadership

May 2026
Went through a behavioral round at Google for a product designer role. Just one question but it required a real story, not a vague answer.
  • Tell me about a time you championed an idea. What was the outcome?

“I had a decent story ready but I spent too long on the setup and rushed the outcome part, which is probably the whole point of the question.”

Interviewed for a product designer role at Google and got asked about web vs. mobile design tradeoffs. Short and focused, not much else to report.
  • How does your design approach differ when working on web versus mobile products?

“I went straight into screen size and touch targets, which felt a bit surface-level in retrospect.”

Google·Technical Program Manager·Onsite - System Design / Architecture

May 2026
Google TPM system design round, one big open-ended question about mapping infrastructure at global scale. Felt like a logistics puzzle dressed up as a product problem, and I kept second-guessing whether they wanted me to go deeper on the tech or the operational side.
  • You have a fleet of 1,000 cars to photograph every address on Earth for a Street View-style product. How do you design the system end to end?

“Spent the first few minutes thinking about routing and coverage, which felt right, but I underweighted the data pipeline side.”

Got a PM-style question thrown at me during what I thought was a standard SWE loop at Google. Just the one question but it took up a solid chunk of the session and I was not prepared for that angle.
  • You're the PM of Google Doodles. What would your top three metrics be and why?

“I blanked for a second because I kept thinking 'why are they asking me this, I'm a SWE candidate.' Once I got past that I tried to think about what Doodles actually does: it's not a revenue product, it's more about brand and engagement.”

Interviewed at Google for a product role and got hit with a revenue growth question for Maps. Pretty open-ended, which I wasn't fully prepared for.
  • How would you double the revenue for Google Maps?

“I went straight to ads and then kind of stalled.”

Interviewed at Google, got hit with a stats/ML eval question that seems basic but I fumbled the explanation more than I expected.
  • What does it mean when a model's AUC is 0.5, and why does that matter?

“I knew the textbook answer, a model at 0.5 is basically guessing randomly, no better than a coin flip.”
