Meta·Product Manager·Onsite - Product Sense / Strategy

Jun 2026
Meta PM interview question about a classic product tradeoff scenario. One question, pretty focused, the kind of thing that sounds manageable until you're actually in it.
  • You're the PM for Facebook Events. You shipped a new feature and your north star metric improved, but the Facebook app's startup time got 250ms slower. What do you do?

“The metric improvement part felt like a trap to celebrate and move on, which I almost did.”

Meta MLE interview with a greedy optimization problem involving resource allocation between two agents. Pretty clean problem once you see the right framing, but the constraint on k makes it trickier than it first looks.
  • Given n types of cheese and two mice, where mouse 1 eats exactly k types and mouse 2 eats the rest, and each cheese has a separate reward value per mouse, find the assignment that maximizes total reward.

“The naive approach is to try all combinations which obviously blows up.”

Meta PM interview, single product strategy question about launching Messenger Rooms. Not a lot of context to go on from the session itself.
  • How would you bring Messenger Rooms to market?

“This is a go-to-market question dressed up as product sense, and I think I mixed up the two.”

Meta SWE interview built around a multi-level system design and implementation problem called WorkHoursRegister. Four progressively harder levels stacked on top of each other, each one adding enough complexity that you really couldn't fake your way through with a half-baked data model from the start.
  • Design and implement a WorkHoursRegister system that supports adding workers with an hourly rate, toggling entry/exit via timestamps, and querying a worker's total completed work time.
  • Extend the system to return the top N workers by total hours worked, filtered by position, with ties broken alphabetically by worker ID.
  • Add a promotion feature where a worker's new position and pay rate are stored but only take effect starting from their next clock-in, then implement a salary calculator that computes pay across a date range by applying the correct rate to each completed session.
  • Add grant periods where any worker session fully contained within a registered grant window is paid at double rate, and implement a method to retrieve the total extra bonus paid across all workers under a specific grant.

“The toggle mechanic tripped me up more than I expected.”

Meta PM interview with a product design question set in a B2B food delivery context. Pretty open-ended, which sounds fun until you're actually in it.
  • You're a PM at a tech startup that does food delivery for companies (corporate clients). What product would you design?

“The B2B angle is what tripped me up.”

Coding round for a Data Scientist role at Meta, three Python problems all leaning on data structure fundamentals. Nothing too wild but the third question had some tricky edge cases I didn't fully anticipate in time.
  • Given an integer, rearrange only its odd digits to form the smallest possible integer, completely ignoring any even digits.
  • You have a dictionary mapping store names to lists of comments. Find the comment(s) that appear most frequently across all stores, but within each store, count duplicate comments only once.
  • Given a list of objects each representing a class with a name, a total number of sessions, a start year, and an end year, find the maximum combined number of sessions that fall within any two consecutive calendar years.

“Filter, sort, rejoin.”

Meta PM interview with one meaty product analytics question. Nothing too wild but it took me longer than expected to find an angle I actually felt good about.
  • How would you define a meaningful metric for social interaction on Facebook?

“My first instinct was to go straight to something like DAU or comment count, which in hindsight was pretty shallow.”

Meta PM interview, just the one question about measuring success for Medium. Not much context to go on but it's a classic product metrics prompt.
  • How would you measure success for Medium?

“This one tripped me up because Medium sits in a weird spot.”

Meta SWE coding round with a data manipulation problem that looks straightforward until you realize you need to join two datasets with overlapping fields before you can even start computing anything.
  • Given two datasets with animal attributes spread across them (one has name and leg count, the other has name, tail, and walking leg count), write a function that returns the speeds of animals that walk on two legs, sorted in descending order. Speed is derived from both leg and tail fields.

“The join part is what gets you.”

Meta SWE interview where they handed me a small maze solver codebase and told me to find and fix bugs without AI help. Pretty interesting format, not the usual leetcode grind.
  • You're given a small multi-file codebase for a maze solver. Find and fix the bugs in it, and walk through your debugging methodology as you go.
  • Add code comments to explain your reasoning as you work through the debugging process.
  • Some of the failing tests may be intentionally malformed. How do you decide whether to fix the code or flag and remove a test case?

“The actual bug was in printMaze, where empty cells were being printed with the wrong symbol instead of an asterisk.”
