Meta·Product Manager·Onsite - Product Sense / Strategy

May 2026
Meta PM interview with a single product design question around child care. Pretty open-ended, which I wasn't fully prepared for.
  • Design a product for child care.

“The scope of this tripped me up more than I expected.”

Behavioral round at Meta, just one question about cross-team negotiation. Pretty short session, not much else to say.
  • Give an example of a time you had to negotiate between two competing teams.

“I went with a story about two eng teams fighting over resource allocation on a shared platform.”

Meta DS coding screen, one algorithmic problem the whole time. Clean enough premise but there are a few edge cases that'll trip you up if you're not careful about how you group things.
  • A student can read books from a summer program, each with a category and a point value. You can pick at most 3 books, but no two can share a category. Write a function that returns the maximum total points achievable.

“My first instinct was to just sort everything by points descending and grab the top 3, which obviously breaks the moment you have duplicate categories.”

Meta product sense interview, one question about optimizing photo count in the Facebook Newsfeed. Pretty open-ended and I wasn't sure how deep to go on the metrics side.
  • How would you determine the right number of photos to display in the Facebook Newsfeed?

“I started by trying to define what 'right' even means here, which took longer than it should've.”

Meta·Software Engineer·Onsite - Coding / Algorithms

May 2026
Meta SWE coding round with a data structure problem that looked straightforward until you actually had to think about the constraints. The Quack problem is one of those things where the problem statement does most of the heavy lifting but the implementation details will get you if you're not careful.
  • You're given a custom data structure called a Quack that maintains elements in sorted order, supports inserting a value, popping randomly from either the head or tail (so either the min or max), and returning the current size. Given a sequence of operations, output all remaining elements in ascending order.

“The pop behavior is what makes this weird.”

Meta coding screen for a software engineer role. Pretty much one question the whole time, which was a sliding window problem. Clean and focused, nothing crazy.
  • Design a MovingAverage class that takes a stream of integers and a window size, and returns the moving average of the last N values after each insertion.

“I knew the queue approach pretty quickly but fumbled explaining why a running sum matters.”

Got a product sense question from Meta that was framed as a Microsoft Xbox scenario, which threw me off a bit. Pretty standard PM case format but the cross-company framing made it feel a little weird to navigate.
  • It's your first day as PM for Microsoft Xbox. What is the goal of the product?

“The cross-company framing tripped me up more than it should have.”

Meta product sense question about redesigning Facebook for a more private and intimate experience. One question, open-ended, the kind that sounds deceptively simple but sprawls fast if you don't anchor it early.
  • How would you redesign Facebook to feel more secure, private, and intimate? Walk through relevant user groups, their needs, and product ideas to address them.

“I started with user segmentation which was the right call, but I spent way too long on it.”

Meta PM interview with a product sense question about a stock trading app. Pretty open-ended, which I wasn't fully prepared for.
  • You're the PM of a stock trading app similar to Fidelity or Zerodha. What two features would you build to increase the percentage of new users who complete their first trade after installing the app?

“I went straight to feature ideas without grounding it in why users drop off before that first trade, which was probably the wrong move.”

Behavioral round at Meta for a SWE role. Just one question but it hit harder than expected.
  • Tell me about a time you struggled on a project.

“I had a story ready but it came out way too polished, like I was reading off a script.”
