Meta·Product Manager·Onsite - Product Sense / Strategy

May 2026
Meta PM interview with a product sense question about a feature decision on Facebook's onboarding flow. Pretty straightforward setup, one question, no idea how it went.
  • Should Facebook remove the mandatory profile picture upload step from its initial account setup flow?

“This one pulled me in two directions at once.”

Meta·Software Engineer·Technical Phone Screen

May 2026
Meta software engineering interview with two back-to-back coding problems. Both were algorithmic, one classic and one trickier than it looks. No behavioral, no system design, just pure coding under the clock.
  • Given an integer array, find the index of any peak element (where the element is strictly greater than its neighbors, treating out-of-bounds as negative infinity). Your solution must run in O(log n) time.
  • Given a list of distinct words, compute the shortest unique abbreviation for each word. An abbreviation is formed as the first few characters, then the count of skipped characters, then the last character. If the abbreviation isn't shorter than the original word, keep the original.

“Binary search on a peak-finding problem feels unintuitive at first because you're not searching for a specific value.”

Meta SWE coding question, pretty focused on data manipulation. One problem, not a lot of fluff around it.
  • Write a function that takes structured data with column names as input and transforms it into an output format suitable for building a pivot table.

“Took me a minute to even figure out what the output shape should look like.”

Meta SWE coding round with an array optimization problem. Pretty standard algorithmic question but the space complexity angle made it more interesting than I expected.
  • Given a non-negative integer array, implement a space-optimized solution using two pointers instead of a prefix sum approach.

“I jumped straight to prefix sums because that felt natural, and the interviewer nudged me toward thinking about space.”

Meta·Technical Program Manager·Onsite - Product Sense / Strategy

May 2026
Meta TPM interview with a single open-ended product design question about online learning. Not much context given going in, which made it feel like a lot of guessing about what scope they actually wanted.
  • Design a solution for the online learning space. Walk through the problem, the users, and what you'd build.

“The question is deceptively open.”

Meta·Data Scientist·Onsite - Behavioral / Leadership

May 2026
Virtual behavioral round for Meta's social-commerce team, data scientist role. Pretty standard loop of situational questions but the follow-up on the inclusion one caught me off guard and I fumbled it a bit.
  • Tell me about a time you had to push through significant obstacles to deliver something.
  • Describe a piece of feedback you received that genuinely changed how you approach your work.
  • Give an example of something you did to actively promote inclusion within your team.
  • Looking back at that inclusion example, what would you do differently?

“I had a decent story ready but I kept burying the actual outcome.”

Meta·Software Engineer·Technical Phone Screen

May 2026
Meta SWE coding round, one question on keypad letter combinations. Pretty standard backtracking problem but worth knowing cold if you're prepping for phone screens there.
  • Given a string of digits (2-9, max length 4) representing a phone keypad, return all possible letter combinations those digits could map to. For example, input '23' should produce all combinations like 'ad', 'ae', 'af', 'bd', etc.

“Classic backtracking setup.”

Meta·Software Engineer·Technical Phone Screen

May 2026
Meta coding screen for a software engineer role, focused on array problems that started simple and got progressively more interesting. The tradeoff discussion at the end was where things got real.
  • Given an unsorted array of integers, write a function to return the minimum value.
  • For an unsorted array of integers, write a function to return the mode (most frequently occurring value). Walk through a sorting-based approach versus a hash-map counting approach, and if the value range is small and known, a counting array approach. Discuss the tradeoffs in time and space across all three.
  • How does your approach to finding the mode change under streaming input, or when you're operating under strict memory constraints?

“Warmup question, single linear scan, nothing to it.”

Meta SWE coding screen, basically one binary search problem on a sorted array with duplicates. Pretty standard stuff but the edge cases are where they actually want to see you think.
  • Given a sorted integer array that may contain duplicates and a target value, return any valid index of the target in O(log n) time, or -1 if it doesn't exist.

“Classic binary search but the duplicates thing is a small wrinkle.”

Meta·Data Scientist·Onsite - Behavioral / Leadership

May 2026
Behavioral round for a Data Scientist role at Meta, focused entirely on collaboration and communication. Three questions, all soft-skills territory, no technical component whatsoever.
  • Can you walk me through a time you had a conflict with a colleague or team, and what you did to work through it?
  • How do you handle it when stakeholders or teammates push back on your analysis or don't trust your model's conclusions?
  • Tell me about a project you're proud of. What was your specific contribution and what did it actually change?

“I had a decent story ready but halfway through I realized I was making myself sound way too blameless.”
