SAP software engineer coding question, pretty straightforward JavaScript stuff. Just the one problem about variadic functions and summing arguments.
  • Implement a variadic function called nSum that accepts any number of numeric arguments and returns their total sum.

“Easier than I expected.”

Pretty straightforward coding screen for a Software Engineer role at SAP. One question, nothing tricky, felt more like a warmup than a real filter.
  • Given an array of author objects each containing a firstName and lastName field, write a function that returns an array of their full names as strings in 'First Last' format.

“Basically a map over the array and template literal the two fields together.”

Got a coding question at SAP for a software engineer role, pretty straightforward grouping problem but it had a few gotchas worth thinking through.
  • Given an array of author objects, write a function that groups them by nationality and returns a dictionary where each key maps to an object containing the list of authors from that country and their count.

“Seemed easy at first, just a reduce or a loop with some bookkeeping.”

Got a coding question at SAP for a software engineer role, pretty straightforward array filtering and string formatting task. Nothing too crazy but the output format tripped me up a bit.
  • Given an array of author objects (each with a full name and nationality), write a function that returns a sentence listing only the American authors, formatted like 'X, Y, and Z are American authors.'

“Filtering was easy, the join logic with 'and' before the last name is where I fumbled a bit.”
