Meta·Software Engineer·Technical Phone Screen

Apr 2026
SQL-heavy technical screen for a data engineer role at Meta. The whole thing centered on a bookstore schema and they just kept piling on join and aggregation questions until I ran out of clever things to say.
  • Given a bookstore database schema, write SQL queries using joins and aggregations to answer questions about sales, inventory, and customer data.

“Felt fine at first, inner joins on orders and inventory tables, nothing wild.”

Meta·Technical Program Manager·Onsite - Behavioral / Leadership

Apr 2026
Behavioral loop at Meta for a TPM role. One question, pretty much the whole conversation.
  • Walk me through a program you owned end to end. What challenges came up, how did you handle conflict along the way, and what was the actual impact?

“This is the kind of question that sounds easy until you're in it and realize you're juggling three different threads at once.”

Meta·Product Manager·Onsite - Product Sense / Strategy

Apr 2026
Meta PM interview with a product strategy question about extending an existing system into new territory. Pretty open-ended, which I wasn't fully prepared for.
  • Design a roadmap for adding purchase request functionality to an existing invoice management system.

“I spent too long on the 'why' and barely got to the actual roadmap sequencing before time ran out.”

Meta·Technical Program Manager·Onsite - Behavioral / Leadership

Apr 2026
TPM loop at Meta, got hit with a program restructuring question that felt more like a leadership case study than a typical PM screen. Not a lot of context to go on from the original post but the question itself is a meaty one.
  • You've inherited a program that has gone through significant changes and is now off track. How would you approach restructuring it?

“This one took me a second to orient to because there's no clean answer.”

Meta·Software Engineer·Technical Phone Screen

Apr 2026
Meta coding screen, looked like a pretty focused algorithms round. One question on binary search over a sorted array, nothing crazy, but they pushed on the reasoning behind approach choices.
  • Given a sorted array of integers and a query range [a, b], return all values in the array that fall within that range (inclusive). What's your approach and complexity?

“Went with bisect_left and bisect_right to find the bounds, then just sliced the array.”

Meta SQL round, one question about finding the second highest order value. Short session, not much context given about how it went.
  • Write a query to find the second highest order value from an orders table.

“Classic SQL trap people think is easy until they actually write it out.”

Meta coding screen, one tree problem, pretty standard stuff but the follow-up directions they expect you to know are easy to miss if you only prep the obvious approach.
  • Given the root of a binary tree, return the values of the nodes visible from the right side, ordered top to bottom.

“I went with BFS and grabbed the last node at each level, which works fine.”

Meta·Software Engineer·Onsite - Behavioral / Leadership

Apr 2026
Behavioral round at Meta for a software engineering role. Two conflict questions, one about internal team friction and one about cross-team stuff. Pretty standard but the follow-up caught me more off guard than I expected.
  • Tell me about a conflict you had with a teammate on your own team. What was the disagreement, how did you handle it, and what happened in the end?
  • Now tell me about a conflict with someone outside your team, like a partner team or stakeholder. How did the cross-team dynamic affect your approach, and how did you get to alignment?

“I had a story ready for this and it came out okay.”

Meta·Product Manager·Onsite - Product Sense / Strategy

Got a product improvement question for Meta that threw me off a bit since it was about an Amazon product, not Meta's own ecosystem.
  • How would you improve the Amazon Fire TV experience specifically for the Indian market?

“Spent the first minute confused about why a Meta interview was asking about a competitor's product.”

Meta PM interview with a single product design question about gardening enthusiasts. Pretty open-ended, which sounds fun until you realize there's basically no guardrail to hide behind.
  • Design a product for gardening enthusiasts.

“I spent probably too long on user segmentation before even touching the problem space.”
