Meta·Product Manager·Onsite - Product Sense / Strategy

Jul 2026
Meta PM interview with a product design question framed around Netflix as the context. Single question, product sense focus, nothing too wild but definitely requires you to think about a specific user segment carefully.
  • As a product manager at Netflix, how would you design a product experience tailored for kids?

“I went straight to the obvious stuff, parental controls, age-appropriate content, simple UI, and then realized halfway through I wasn't really differentiating my answer from anything you'd find in a generic blog post.”

Meta·Data Scientist·Onsite - Product Sense / Strategy

Brutal onsite at Meta for a DS role. One question, but it was basically a full product spec disguised as a metrics question. Walked out not sure if I nailed it or completely missed the point.
  • Design a rigorous success measurement framework for a new EU business-to-customer chat subscription product. Include primary KPIs for product-market fit and monetization, guardrail metrics to prevent customer harm or spam, precise operational definitions with formulas and attribution rules, and target ranges with escalation triggers. Also address how you'd define and calibrate a 'not solved' metric using both a sentiment model and post-chat CSAT, including bias and failure modes for each.

“This was a monster.”

Meta data science interview with a meaty advertising effectiveness case. The whole thing revolved around one big open-ended scenario, which sounds manageable until you realize how many directions it can go.
  • A retailer runs both direct-response and brand-awareness ad campaigns. Leadership believes social media is a weak channel for brand advertising. How would you design an analysis to test that hypothesis, and what data, metrics, and statistical approaches would you use?

“This one sprawled in ways I didn't expect.”

Meta coding screen, basically a calculator problem but stripped down to just addition and multiplication. Felt manageable once I saw the constraint about no parentheses.
  • Given a string expression with non-negative integers and only '+' and '*' operators (no parentheses), evaluate and return the result.

“My first instinct was to reach for a full operator stack like you'd use for the general calculator problem.”

Meta·Data Scientist·Onsite - Behavioral / Leadership

Jul 2026
Behavioral round at Meta for a data science role, four questions all focused on growth, adaptability, cross-team dynamics, and inclusion. Pretty standard loop but the questions had more depth than I expected and the interviewer pushed back on vague answers.
  • Tell me about a project where you failed or made a significant mistake. What did you learn and how did you grow from it?
  • Describe a time you had to adapt quickly to an ambiguous situation or a very tight deadline. What did you actually do?
  • How have you built trust with engineering or other teams, particularly when there was conflict or a disagreement on approach?
  • Give an example of how you helped a new or underrepresented teammate feel included and supported on your team.

“I had a decent story ready but fumbled the growth part.”

Coding interview at Meta for a SWE role. One algorithmic problem, the kind that looks straightforward but has enough edge cases to slow you down if you're not careful.
  • Given a list of integers, find the length of the longest subarray that is strictly increasing but allows at most one 'break', where a break means an element is smaller than the one before it.

“The example they gave was [1, 3, 5, 4, 7] with answer 5, which is the whole array since there's only one drop (5 to 4).”

Meta coding interview, one algorithmic question about arrays and binary sequences. Pretty focused session, nothing too wild but the problem has some edge cases that can trip you up if you're not careful.
  • Given a binary array, find the index of a 0 that, when flipped to 1, produces the longest contiguous sequence of 1s.

“Sliding window is the move here but I initially started thinking about it as a brute force scan and wasted a couple minutes before course-correcting.”

Meta PM interview with a product metrics question about Facebook Rooms. Pretty standard product sense round but the question had enough edge cases to trip you up if you weren't thinking carefully about what 'success' actually means for a social feature like that.
  • How would you measure the success of Facebook Rooms?

“I jumped straight to DAU and retention, which felt safe but probably too surface-level.”

Meta·Technical Program Manager·Onsite - System Design / Architecture

Jul 2026
Meta TPM interview with a system design question about building a live streaming platform like Twitch. Pretty open-ended, which I wasn't totally prepared for.
  • How would you design a live streaming platform similar to Twitch?

“I jumped straight into the video ingestion pipeline before even scoping what 'live streaming' meant in this context.”

Meta system design screen, one question about building type-ahead search for Netflix. Pretty lean on details but the core problem is meaty enough to chew on for a while.
  • Design a type-ahead search system for a streaming platform like Netflix.

“This one goes deeper than it looks.”
